The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a 2003 action/adventure film directed by Stephen Norrington and starring Sean Connery, Stuart Townsend, and Peta Wilson. Set in Victorian-era England, the film follows a group of fictional literary characters who are brought together to stop a world-threatened crisis. The film opens with a series of attacks on several world capitals by a mysterious villain known only as "The Fantom". In response, British Intelligence officer "M" (Richard Roxburgh) assembles a team of extraordinary individuals with unique abilities: Allan Quatermain (Sean Connery), an experienced hunter and adventurer from the African wilderness; Mina Harker (Peta Wilson), a vampire and the wife of Jonathan Harker; Captain Nemo (Naseeruddin Shah), a skilled inventor and captain of the Nautilus; Rodney Skinner (Tony Curran), also known as "The Invisible Man"; Dorian Gray (Stuart Townsend), a man with a portrait that bears the physical toll of his age and sins; Tom Sawyer (Shane West), a young American agent; and Dr. Henry Jekyll (Jason Flemyng), who transforms into the monstrous Mr. Hyde.

The team is tasked with retrieving a powerful new substance known as "Cavorite" from a secret laboratory in Venice, Italy, and using it to track down and stop The Fantom. Along the way, they encounter various obstacles and enemies, including a vicious attack by warrior Fantom agents and a confrontation with Dorian Gray, who betrays the team in order to gain immortality.

As they continue their journey, the team begins to unravel a larger conspiracy involving The Fantom and his plans for world domination. They must overcome their personal differences and work together if they hope to save the world from destruction.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a fun adventure film that brings together iconic literary figures in a unique and exciting way. Sean Connery is particularly engaging as the aged Quatermain, bringing his trademark presence and charm to the role. The rest of the cast is also solid, with each member bringing their own unique skills and quirks to the team dynamic.

The film's special effects and action sequences are impressive, with Captain Nemo's Nautilus and the team's various weapons and gadgets providing plenty of visual spectacle. The film's setting in Victorian England also adds to its charm, with the steampunk-inspired aesthetic giving it a distinct and memorable look.

While the film has its flaws - the plot can be somewhat convoluted at times and some of the characters are underdeveloped - it remains an enjoyable and entertaining adventure that is sure to please fans of action movies, superhero flicks, and classic literature alike. Overall, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a fun, action-packed romp that successfully brings together some of literature's most iconic characters into a thrilling new world.
