George Kellerman is up for a promotion he's sure he'll get and takes a trip to New York to interview for the position there. His wife Gwen tags along with him, and from the moment they leave Twin Oaks, Ohio hilarity ensues as one thing after another goes wrong for the out of town couple. Their plane is detoured to Boston, and the train ride from Boston to New York becomes a ride from hell.

That's only the beginning. It doesn't get any better when they finally get to New York. All of George's careful planning for a night of New York romance goes downhill as a series of calamities befall them. Suddenly they are on the streets of New York meeting with all kinds of colorful characters and trying desperately to get back on track. But for all of George's effort and insistence on writing down the names of all the perpetrators the Kellermans can't seem to catch a break.

The Big Apple has suddenly become rotten for George Kellerman. The Kellermans will never see the big city in quite the same way again.
