A film adaptation of H.G. Wells' novel, the romantic drama, The Passionate Friends, reunites two young lovers, now as mature adults, caught in a stressful love triangle. The movie is presented as a recollection of memories of Mary Justin, a now married woman, on vacation in the Swiss Alps, recalling the times with her former lover, Steven Stratton. Mary and Steven rekindle their romance of nine years earlier, as she awaits the arrival of her husband, who is away on business. The film was nominated at the 1949 Cannes Film Festival. Run time of the film is 95 minutes.
