The Terror is a 1963 horror film starring Boris Karloff, Jack Nicholson, and Sandra Knight. Directed by Roger Corman, the movie is set in the early 19th century and tells the story of a young French officer named Andre Duvalier (Jack Nicholson) who becomes lost during a storm and seeks refuge in a castle. There he meets an old baron (Boris Karloff) who seems to be hiding a dark secret.

As Duvalier begins to uncover the mystery surrounding the baron and the castle, strange and terrifying events start to unfold. He meets the baron's beautiful daughter, Helene (Sandra Knight), who may hold the key to the truth. But with each passing moment, the lines between reality and nightmare become increasingly blurred.

The film's eerie atmosphere is enhanced by the haunting music score and gothic setting. Corman uses a number of cinematic techniques to create a sense of unease, such as distorted camera angles, disorienting transitions, and a recurring image of a mysterious woman in white.

Despite being filmed on a shoestring budget and shot in just a few days using leftover sets from other productions, The Terror manages to capture the audience's attention with its intriguing storyline and skilled performances from the cast.

Boris Karloff delivers a nuanced portrayal of the baron, who is both sympathetic and sinister. Jack Nicholson, who was just starting out in his career at the time, shows flashes of the acting talent that would later make him a household name. Sandra Knight, though given relatively little to do, manages to hold her own against her co-stars.

Overall, The Terror is a moody and atmospheric horror film that will delight fans of classic fright flicks. While it may not be as well-known as some of Corman's other works, such as his Edgar Allan Poe adaptations or his biker films, it is nonetheless a worthy addition to the horror canon.

The Terror is a 1963 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 21 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.0.
