Today We Live is a heartwarming and heartbreaking romantic drama from 1933, directed by Howard Hawks and starring Joan Crawford, Gary Cooper, and Robert Young. Set during World War I, the film follows the story of Diana (Crawford), a young woman living in England who falls in love with a daring American pilot named Bogard (Cooper). Diana's brother Ronnie (Young) is also in love with her and jealous of Bogard. As the war rages on and Bogard gets shipped out on dangerous missions, Diana and Ronnie's relationships with him and with each other become increasingly complicated.

The film opens with Diana and her hunting party arriving at a rural estate called "Oakley Manor," where they encounter Bogard, who has just crash-landed his biplane on the grounds. Diana is immediately taken with Bogard's dashing good looks and devil-may-care attitude, and the two spend the day together horseback riding and exploring the countryside. However, their idyllic day is cut short when Bogard is called back to his airbase to fly another mission.

As Diana anxiously awaits news of Bogard's fate, she finds unexpected comfort in the company of her brother Ronnie, who has always harbored feelings for her. Ronnie is kind and supportive, and gradually Diana begins to realize that she may have more than one suitor vying for her affections.

Despite the danger he faces every day, Bogard manages to survive his missions and return to England. Each time he comes back, he and Diana pick up where they left off, falling deeper in love with each other. However, their happiness is always short-lived as Bogard inevitably has to go back to war.

As the years go on, the toll of the war begins to take its toll on everyone in Diana's life. Oakley Manor, which used to be a place of carefree leisure and fun, becomes a makeshift hospital for wounded soldiers. Diana and Ronnie both volunteer to help care for the soldiers, putting their own lives at risk in the process.

Through it all, Diana's relationships with both Bogard and Ronnie remain complicated. She loves them both, but in different ways. She struggles to reconcile her feelings for each of them and the difficult choices that lie ahead. Eventually, as the war draws to a close, Diana must face the ultimate decision: which man will she choose to spend the rest of her life with?

Today We Live is a beautifully shot and acted film that captures the emotions and complexities of love and war. Crawford gives a stunning performance as Diana, a woman torn between her heart and her duty. Cooper is charismatic as the charming American pilot, and Young provides a strong supporting role as Diana's conflicted brother. The film's themes of sacrifice, loyalty, and resilience are as relevant now as they were in 1933. Overall, Today We Live is a must-see for any fan of classic Hollywood melodrama.
