In Chennai, they face opposition from Madhumitha's family who do not accept Aditya as their son-in-law. They try to separate the couple and even attempt to kill Aditya. Aditya fights back and eventually Madhumitha's family accepts their relationship.

Aditya and Madhumitha start living happily and even have a child. However, during the birth of their second child, complications arise and Madhumitha dies. Aditya is devastated by her death and starts living a depressed life. He even considers suicide but decides against it when he realizes that he has to take care of his children.

After the flashback, Aditya finally reaches Chennai and meets Anjali again. He finds out that she is now married and has a son. They both exchange pleasantries and part ways. Aditya decides to start a new life and comes to terms with his past.

The film received mixed reviews from critics but was a commercial success at the box office. The performances of Suriya, Laila and Sneha were appreciated by the audience. The music by Sirpy was also well received, especially the song "April Mayilae".
