V.I. Warshawski is a 1991 movie about a tough Chicago female detective based on the best selling mystery books by Sara Paretsky. The film, starring Kathleen Turner, featured V. I. (Vic to her friends) as she investigated her cousin Boom Boom's death. The police say it was an accident, but Vic knows it was murder. V.I. may be a woman, but she is tough. Quick on her feet with a wise cracking mouth, Vic does what it takes to solve a crime. She's assisted by her boyfriend Murray, her neighbor, and a thirteen year old daughter of a new suitor, Kat. V. I. is as comfortable in high heels as she is with a gun, and makes the most of her Chicago apartment that overlooks Wrigley field. Private detective is a not a usual career choice for a woman, but V.I. Warshawski uses her femininity to her advantage as she solves crimes.
