Walking Tall: The Payback is an action packed movie that focuses on a local hero who takes matters into his own hands. Nick the main character, who is ex-military, returns to his hometown to find that brutal gangs and worthless criminals have taken over the town. Nick learns that his father, the sheriff in town, has tried to stand up against the gangs. These gangs blackmail local businesses into selling their business.

The gang's ringleader is Harvey Morris and he is not going to quit his actions without putting up a fight. Nick decides to get the FBI and a few old friends to take down Harvey and his gang. Nick and his supporters know they have a fight on their hands but are determined at all costs to save their town.
