Watch Air Disasters

Aviation has gripped the hearts of humanity for nearly a hundred years. Many dream of an exiting career in the airline industry that will take them up in the skies like on wings of eagles and they do not spend one second of their precious time thinking about a possible disaster that could end their life. The adventure and dream of conquering the skies and flying through the clouds makes us forget what lies beneath and what could happen if a mistake or mechanical failure happens.

We pray that a horrible disaster in the sky never becomes a reality to us but way back in our minds we are always aware that it is a long way down back to earth. We understand that sure death awaits us if we crash. We may grip our armrest just a little harder and tighten the seat belt at the thought of such a terrifying experience.

The Air Disaster show reminds us of what aviation accidents can bring. Terrifying scenes of exploding engines, crashes that make us have nightmares for months and yet survival stories that inspire us forever visit us right in the comfort of our homes. Catastrophes like airline crashes leave death and destruction in their path but often miraculous survival stories help us to remain hopeful that we too could make it through such a horrible experience.

Shows like this are a reminder of what could happen and interesting investigations of the possible causes educate us. The stories that are told are horrifying but they are also a reminder of why we should listen to the airline personnel understand the safety precautions and know where how to use the provided emergency equipment. This should encourage us to look for the emergency exits and always be willing to help our fellow travelers.

The Airplane is a magnificent invention and used in daily travel in modern society. This wonder of technology is nearly perfect but from time to time even the nearly perfect machine will malfunction or become a victim of human error. Air disasters does not only show the possible tragedies but also the possible survival and the bravery of the human spirit!

Air Disasters Full Episode Guide

  • At the end of a quick trip from Washington, D.C. to Columbus, Ohio, the captain of United Express Flight 6291 grows concerned over reports of icy rain ahead. He opts for a risky "slam dunk" landing, a maneuver where a plane descends rapidly to the runway to avoid bad weather, but something goes wrong. The plane crashes into a warehouse just a mile from the airport. The badly burned wreckage leaves little for investigators to work with, but when they examine the cockpit recording they make a stunning discovery.

  • LaMia Flight 2933, carrying Brazil's Chapecoense soccer team, is approaching Medellin, Colombia to play for the prestigious Copa Sudamericana championship when its crew suddenly declares a fuel emergency. Before air traffic control can clear a path, the plane loses power and crashes to the ground, killing all but seven passengers. Investigators discover no leaks and are mystified over how the experienced pilots could fly a plane with an insufficient amount of fuel. As they pore over the evidence, they ultimately uncover a deadly gamble.

  • A Boeing 737 approaches the city of Perm en route from Moscow. Throughout the trip, an asymmetrical thrust from the plane's twin engines has made flying difficult, but things are about to get much worse. The aircraft suddenly nosedives before slamming directly onto the Trans-Siberian Railway, killing all 88 people aboard. Russian and U.S. investigators work together to determine what caused the crash. At first, they suspect a design flaw in the aircraft's rudder, but after digging deeper they discover the real problem was the two pilots in the cockpit.

  • Continental Airlines Flight 1404 is prepped for departure from Denver facing a moderate breeze and light wintery conditions. The Boeing 737 is bound for Houston, but before takeoff, the aircraft suddenly careens off the runway, crashes, and bursts into flame. Miraculously, all 115 aboard survive, but investigators worry about a similar accident happening again. The 737 is the best-selling commercial jetliner in history, and if there's a flaw in the design of the plane, the next crash could be imminent.

  • How could a state-of-the-art airbus A-310, flown by two excellent pilots, crash less than two minutes after takeoff? Romanian investigators call in the FBI to determine if the crash of Tarom Flight 371 was a terrorist act, but the cockpit recording reveals the true reason for the disaster. Follow the tragic accident, from takeoff to its nosedive into a field just two miles from the airport, and see how zero visibility, a malfunctioning throttle, and a tragedy in the cockpit doomed the commercial jet.

  • Seconds after takeoff, a cargo plane transporting 87,000 pounds of denim pitches up before slamming to the ground, careening across a freeway, and plowing into a building. Hundreds of people in the city of Miami witness the catastrophe, but none of the accounts help investigators determine whether the DC-8's erratic path was the result of mechanical failure, pilot error, or both. Witness the fiery crash and follow the complex inquiry that reveals a cascading series of events, including a cover-up, that ultimately dooms a cargo airline.

  • When a DC-8 cargo jet crashes on approach to a U.S. naval base in Guantanamo, investigators wonder if Cuba played a role.

  • Moments after takeoff from Amsterdam, pilots of a KLM dual turboprop report an engine problem and head back to the airport. But seconds before touchdown, the plane banks sharply and crashes into a field next to the runway. Investigators face intense pressure to find out what happened, but answers are hard to come by. Careful examination of the evidence only deepens the mystery, until data recorder findings and research into the pilots' training records point examiners towards the reason for the disaster.

  • Legendary pilot Jimmy Leeward is determined to make news at the 2011 Reno Air Races by pushing his World War II fighter to a world-breaking speed of 500 MPH. He succeeds, but at a tragic cost. Mid-race, Leeward loses control of his plane and crashes, killing himself and ten air show spectators. Witness the shocking crash and aftermath captured on video, then follow the 11-month investigation, which revealed a careless interpretation of the race rules that would lead to changes, demanding better flight testing of highly modified aircraft.

  • Just twenty minutes from touching down in Hong Kong from Indonesia, a sudden engine malfunction transforms an airbus A330 into a 200-ton glider. The plane appears destined to ditch into the South China Sea unless the captain can come up with a better plan. Miraculously, he does. Witness the emergency landing of Cathay Pacific Flight 780, and hear from the pilots and crew who somehow found a way to beat the odds and save the lives of all 322 people on board.

  • The disappearance of Air France Flight 447 over the Atlantic Ocean launches one of the most difficult air crash investigations of all time. With the wreckage lost at sea, it will take nearly two years for investigators to uncover the shocking reasons behind the crash.

  • February 21st, 2008 - After taking off from Merida, Venezuela, Santa Barbara Airlines Flight 518 is high above the Andes Mountains en route to Caracas. But after just six minutes in the air, an alarm tells the pilots they are dangerously close to the ground. Before they can react, the aircraft smashes into a mountaintop and is pulverized on impact instantly killing all 46 people on board.

  • January 25th, 2010 - En route to Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Airlines Flight 409 takes off from Beirut, Lebanon, with 90 people on board. As the plane climbs to cruising altitude, tower controllers ask the pilots to turn on to a new heading. The pilots acknowledge the instruction. But just moments later, the plane spirals out of control and crashes into the Mediterranean Sea.

  • Polish President Lech Kaczynski is killed after his plane crashes in heavy fog on approach to a Russian military airport. Poland and Russia both launch official investigations to discover the cause of the crash and at first, it seems that the pilot's decision to attempt a landing in heavy fog may be to blame.

  • As air traffic controllers struggle to keep departures on schedule amid heavy snow in Denver, a DC-9 is delayed on the tarmac. When the crew is finally cleared for takeoff, the plane gets only 20 feet off the ground before banking sharply and slamming back down, killing 28 of the 82 people on board. Follow investigators as they uncover why Continental Airlines Flight 1713 crashed in bad weather while others safely took off. The discovery will change commercial flight, and the teams flying these aircraft, forever.

  • When a commercial airliner goes down in eastern Ukraine in 2014, examiners must conduct an investigation in the middle of a war zone.

  • A 1988 commercial flight crashes just moments after liftoff and erupts in flames.

  • The investigation into the 2014 crash of a TransAsia flight uncovers a systemic problem with the airline.

  • When an American cargo plane crashes moments after takeoff, investigators uncover a systemic problem with aircraft maintenance.

  • Investigators struggle to understand the unusual flight path and Himalayan crash site of Thai Airways Flight 311.

  • A shocking error in the cockpit causes the crash of a 737 on takeoff and leaves an entire nation reeling.

  • When a plane carrying Russian tourists crashes in Egypt, investigators face political tensions and terrorist claims in their search for the truth.
