Watch Ant Anstead: Born Mechanic

Ant rescues a special 1971 Mark 1 Ford Transit - a left-hand drive German fire engine. This imported van won't start though and figuring out why proves a real head scratcher. Plus, it has brake problems and a shabby paint job. But Ant's determined to resurrect it and find a new lease of life for this utilitarian vehicle. Meanwhile, with two weeks left until the end of summer when Ant's parents are supposed to move into the farmhouse, disaster hits.

Ant heads to the West Midlands to see one of his favorite cars of all time, an Austin 7. But this 1929 Chummy has braking problems and the lights are no good. Despite that, he can't resist this vintage car. But when he gets back to the barn, Ant spots an unexpected problem. The margin was always going to be tight on this pre-war car but has Ant's love of the Austin 7 got in the way of his business brain? Meanwhile, it's just a month until Ant's parents are supposed to be moving into the farmhouse, so it's all hands on deck with the restoration to try and hit the deadline.

Ant's right hand man Duncan is a huge fan of BMWs and persuades a reluctant Ant to buy a 1991 E30 325i, convincing him there's profit to be made. But much to Ant's annoyance, it's an automatic that has had no mechanical work done on it for the last seven years. Plus, it's plain white which Ant thinks is bland. He's far from convinced that this is a good buy, but Duncan reckons he should take a leap of faith. Meanwhile Ant's feeling the pressure on the farmhouse renovation as he races to get the hallway finished.

Ant uncovers a rare 1978 TVR Taimar in a garden in Oxfordshire. This cult British sportscar has a reputation for being temperamental and despite it leaving a pool of oil, dodgy paintwork and a missing heater box, Ant can't resist. He's got big plans to reinvigorate this icon, but his dad Nigel goes slightly off-piste purchasing new parts, leaving Ant with a hole in the budget. At the house it's full steam ahead to get the living room floor finished. Ant and his dad have a clear vision of what they want but will Mom approve?

Ant heads to Devon on the hunt for a beach buggy. This kit-car classic is an icon of surf culture, but this particular 1972 VW buggy has seen brighter days. The clutch judders, the engine is jittery, the bodywork is tired and the whole vehicle looks tatty. So, to get this buggy beach-ready, Ant decides to give it a total overhaul and goes totally rad with the design. But will his vision be too out there for anyone to want to buy it? Meanwhile at the farmhouse, Ant gets stuck into plastering the bedroom and starts to realize how much work needs to be done to get his parents in by the end of summer.

Ant heads to the South Coast, where he has to haggle with a 91-year-old Italian Nonna to get his hands on an imported 1970 Fiat 500, but it's arrived from Italy with a lengthy list of mechanical problems. It's as leaky as a pasta sieve, and the steering is dodgy. More often than not, it doesn't start, and when it does, the engine overheats. Despite that, it's amore at first sight for Ant, but will he fall out of love with his latest muse? Meanwhile, restoration costs at the farmhouse are mounting, so Ant goes full-on DIY when it comes to screeding the living room floor.

Ant and dad Nigel head to Devon on a trip down memory lane to see a 1963 Morris Minor Traveller. Nigel once owned an iconic Woodie. The bodywork on this Traveller is impeccable, but there's one minor drawback - there's no engine in it! Ant's mechanical mate Duncan is not impressed with Ant's impulsive decision to buy it, but together they start the long journey to try and get this iconic Woodie back on the road. Meanwhile Ant's farmhouse is in serious danger of collapse due to rotting beams. To replace them, Ant and Duncan are going to have to lift the entire house!

Ant uncovers a 1972 Mark 1 Capri in a lockup in Cambridgeshire which might have a hidden secret. Advertised as a GXL, Ant's got a hunch it could be a much more desirable GT. Either way, there's a heap of problems to sort, including a dangerous steering system and rust. Ant takes a gamble on the mystery Capri but needs it to turn good profit to give the farmhouse renovation a fuel injection of cash. Ant and his son Archie start demolishing the dining room, and Ant's girlfriend Renee Zellweger surprises him with a cool addition for the home.
