In the eighth episode of season 7 of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, the renowned chef, author, and travel documentarian Anthony Bourdain takes us to the colorful and vibrant city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Buenos Aires, known as the Paris of South America, is a melting pot of European and South American cultures with its unique blend of colonial architecture, tango music, and cuisine.

Anthony Bourdain begins by diving into one of Buenos Aires’ most iconic culinary experiences: asado, or Argentine barbeque. He meets up with one of the city’s most famous asadors, or grillmasters, to get an inside look at how the locals cook their beef to perfection. He samples the delicious meats cooked over an open fire and sips on Argentine wine, a perfect pair with the by-product of asado.

After satisfying his taste buds, Bourdain takes a stroll to one of Buenos Aires’ famous street art districts to appreciate the city’s artistic side. The art pieces are worth admiring, with the various colorful paintings and murals adorning every corner.

Next, Anthony Bourdain explores Buenos Aires’ love for football by heading to the local stadium, La Bombonera, where the Boca Junior’s soccer team plays. He gets himself to the gallery section and sees the passion and energy of the fans as they cheer for their team. Here, Bourdain gained an understanding of the impact Boca Junior has on the culture of Buenos Aires.

Bourdain then heads to one of Buenos Aires’ famous neighborhoods, La Boca. Here he experienced the passion and excitement that is tango dancing, which originated in the city. The dance has an intimate history in the country, and is a true spectacle to witness. It's impossible to talk about La Boca, without mentioning its amazing food culture. Bourdain ends up at a neighborhood parrilla, or grill, to experience a true Argentine steak and Malbec wine pairing, a true staple food combination in the country.

The following day, after a hearty breakfast of medialunas and café con leche, Bourdain decides to wander around the different neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and to learn more about its rich history. He visits the Recoleta Cemetery, which is the final resting place for some of Buenos Aires’ most notable and prominent citizens. He also takes a moment to pay his respect to Eva Perón, who is buried in the cemetery.

Bourdain’s last destination on this episode is the Milonga, a dance hall, where tango was born and will forever live on. He takes to the dance floor to put his lessons from the previous night to the test. The dance hall's vibe is serene and romantic, and a great way to end his experience of the rich culture embedded in Buenos Aires.

As with every other episode of Parts Unknown, Anthony Bourdain offers a unique insight into the city, diving deep into the various aspects that make Buenos Aires an unforgettable travel destination. With his honest and passionate approach to discovering the local food and culture, Bourdain does not pretend that he knows it all but rather enjoys every moment in discovering something new and fascinating about a new destination. It's an episode worth watching for its display of passion, art and culture.
