Ep 3. Living Together, But Where?

As Time Goes By is a British romantic comedy television series that aired from 1992 to 2002. The show follows the lives of Jean (Judi Dench) and Lionel (Geoffrey Palmer), two former lovers who are reunited 38 years later.

She suggests that she and her husband Stephen (Philip Bretherton) can move into Jean's current apartment, freeing it up for Jean and Lionel to move into together. Although Jean is hesitant at first, she agrees to the arrangement.

However, when Penny and Stephen come to view the apartment, they are less than impressed. They find it dark, cramped, and outdated. They also dislike the fact that it is located in a noisy and busy part of the city. This puts Jean and Lionel in a difficult position: they don't want to disappoint Penny, but they also don't want to give up their dream of living together.

Meanwhile, Jean's daughter Judith (Moira Armstrong) and husband Alistair (Philip Bird) are also having housing issues. They have just moved back to England from America and are staying with Jean temporarily. They are looking for a place of their own but are struggling to find something that meets their needs and budget.

Jean suggests that they all move into a larger property together, which would solve everyone's housing problems. However, this idea is met with resistance from both Judith and Alistair. They worry that living with Jean and Lionel could be too cramped and uncomfortable, and they value their independence. Ultimately, they decide to keep looking for a place of their own.

The episode ends with Jean and Lionel still searching for a place to live. They haven't found anything that satisfies both of them, and they are beginning to feel discouraged. However, they remain optimistic that they will eventually find the perfect home. As Jean says, "It's not just finding a place to live, it's finding a place to call home."
