Bear in the Big Blue House Season 1 Episode 17 A Winter's Nap
- November 11, 1997
It's a cold and snowy day in the Big Blue House, and Bear is ready for a nice, long winter's nap. But before he can settle in for some rest, he needs to take care of a few things first. He checks on his garden to make sure the snow isn't damaging any of his plants, and then heads to the kitchen to whip up a pot of hot chocolate.
Meanwhile, Tutter the mouse is feeling a bit stir-crazy from being cooped up inside all day. He suggests they play a game of "Find the Acorn," but Bear is too tired and just wants to curl up with his warm drink and go to sleep. Tutter begs and pleads for Bear to play with him, but when he finally wears Bear down, he realizes that he should have just let him sleep.
As Bear dozes off, he has a dream in which he travels through the woods with a group of forest animals, including his friend Luna the moon. Luna tells him that the winter is a time for rest and renewal, and encourages him to embrace the quiet stillness of the season. When he wakes up, Bear feels rejuvenated and ready to tackle the rest of his day.
The snow has stopped falling by this point, and Bear decides to venture outside for a quick walk. He meets up with a few other Big Blue House residents, including Shadow the shadow and Pip and Pop the otters. They all remark on the peacefulness of the landscape, and Bear realizes that he's grateful for this chance to slow down and appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds him.
Back inside, Bear decides to make some snowballs and have a little fun. He even gets Tutter to join in, and the two of them hurl snowballs at each other until they're both worn out. Finally, Bear decides it's time for another nap, and he snuggles up in his warm bed for a few more hours of rest.
As the day draws to a close, Bear reflects on the lessons he's learned about the importance of taking some time for oneself, especially during the cold winter months. He realizes that even though it can be tempting to stay busy and active all the time, there's something to be said for slowing down and enjoying the warmth and comfort of home. With a contented sigh, he closes his eyes and drifts off to sleep, happy and at peace in the Big Blue House.
