Ep 3. The Infection Spreads

The Infection Spreads is the third episode of the first season of the anime series Blassreiter. The episode begins with a scene in which a group of people is attacked by a demon in the city of Zwolf. The demon is revealed to be a creature that was once a human, but was transformed into a monster by a virus called Amalgam.

The protagonist of the series, Joseph Jobson, is shown visiting Amanda Werner, a woman who is paralyzed from the waist down as a result of the Amalgam virus. Gerd is shown to be a close friend of Joseph, and the two of them have a conversation about the recent events in the city.

The episode then shifts focus to a young girl named Mei-Fong Liu, who is revealed to be a doctor working on a cure for the Amalgam virus. Mei-Fong is shown in a laboratory with two other researchers, trying to find a way to stop the virus from spreading.

Back in Zwolf, the police are shown attempting to capture the demon that attacked the group of people earlier in the episode. Gerd and his team manage to trap the demon, but it successfully escapes after injuring one of the officers.

Joseph is then shown visiting Hermann, who has turned into a monster due to the Amalgam virus. Hermann attacks Joseph, but he is saved by the intervention of a woman named Beatrice Grese.

The episode ends with Beatrice revealing that she has been sent by the XAT, a secret organization responsible for fighting Amalgam outbreaks. Beatrice also reveals that Joseph has been infected with the virus, and that he must join the XAT if he wants to survive.

Overall, The Infection Spreads is an action-packed episode that advances the plot of Blassreiter in a compelling way. It introduces new characters and expands on the world-building of the series, while also raising the stakes with regards to the Amalgam virus. Fans of the series will undoubtedly enjoy this episode.
