Blazing Transfer Students is a Netflix original series that premiered in 2017. It is a live-action adaptation of a manga of the same name written by Kazuhiko Shimamoto. The show follows the story of seven rebellious high school students who are selected to attend a mysterious academy called Kaou Academy. The academy is located on an isolated island, and it is known for its strict disciplinary system and bizarre rules. The students are tasked with completing a mission to save the school from closure, but the mission is not very clear from the start.

The seven students are all from different schools and each have unique skills and personalities. They are Daiki Shigeoka (as Rintaro Tooyama), Akito Kiriyama (as Toshiaki Kajiya), Junta Nakama (as Norimasa Suzuki), Tomohiro Kamiyama (as Kohei Jinguji), Ryusei Fujii (as Kazuhiko Narumi), Takahiro Hamada (as Yoshiki Murayama), and Nozomu Kotaki (as Masamune Yasuda). They have been chosen for their various talents: Tooyama is a track and field star, Kajiya is a prodigious hacker, Suzuki is a martial artist, Jinguji is a survivalist, Narumi is a fashion designer, Murayama is a mechanic and Yasuda is an aspiring politician. They are all rebels in their own ways, and they each have a reason for joining the academy.

The students are introduced to the staff of the academy, who are equally eccentric as the rules of the school. The headmaster, played by veteran actor Takeshi Kaga, is an enigmatic figure who speaks in riddles and is always accompanied by a strange woman. The vice-principal, played by Norio Wakamoto, is a robotic figure who talks in a monotone voice and seems to have a hidden agenda. The staff is not very forthcoming with information about the mission, and the students are left to their own devices to figure out what they need to do.

The show is full of action, comedy, and drama. The students face various challenges throughout the series, including battles with the school's disciplinary committee, solving puzzles and riddles, and navigating the complex interpersonal relationships between themselves and the staff. As they progress through the mission, they learn more about the academy's history and the reasons behind the strange rules and traditions.

Blazing Transfer Students leans heavily on humor and absurdity, with many of the situations and characters being intentionally ridiculous. The show has a distinct anime feel to it, with dramatic camera angles, over-the-top acting, and exaggerated sound effects. The characters are all well-defined, with each having their own unique quirks and backstory. The show also has a strong social commentary, with the characters representing different aspects of Japanese society and youth culture, such as politics, fashion, and technology.

The acting in the show is generally good, with the cast doing a great job of portraying the zany and absurd world of Kaou Academy. Shigeoka and Kiriyama, in particular, stand out as the two leads and have great chemistry together. The show also has a strong visual style, with bright colors and flashy effects used to emphasize the action and drama.

Overall, Blazing Transfer Students is a fun and entertaining show that will appeal to fans of anime and live-action adaptations of manga. It is not a particularly deep or thought-provoking series, but it is a lighthearted and enjoyable romp that is perfect for a lazy afternoon binge-watch. The show's humor and absurdity may not work for everyone, but for those who appreciate its unique style, it is definitely worth checking out.
