Ep 9. UFO No You Didn't

When it comes to odd encounters, the Belcher family usually has its fair share. However, in season 9 episode 9, the Belchers take things up a notch with a purported UFO sighting. In "UFO No You Didn't," the episode's main plot revolves around Bob's interest in UFOs and aliens.

The story opens up with the Belchers driving back home from a family outing, with Gene and Louise bickering in the back seat and Bob and Linda zoning out at the front. Suddenly, Bob spots a strange object in the sky, and he becomes convinced that it is a UFO. Linda humours him at first, but as they get home and the object disappears, Bob continues to obsess over it.

Meanwhile, the B-plot of the episode revolves around Tina and her newfound interest in the paranormal. After a particularly odd dream about a ghost, Tina becomes determined to learn more about the supernatural world and enlists the help of her siblings to investigate.

As Bob becomes increasingly preoccupied with proving the existence of extraterrestrial life, Linda becomes exasperated and goes about her business trying to manage Bob's Burgers. Part of that involves dealing with the insufferable and overly demanding Reggie, a food truck owner who's stolen all of Bob's usual parking spots. Linda soon realizes that she can use Reggie's infatuation with her to get him to move his truck so that Bob can park his own.

As for the kids, Louise is largely skeptical of Bob's UFO claims, while Gene begins to obsess over the possibility of meeting aliens. Gene's obsession takes a hilarious turn when he ends up befriending a "cool" kid who shares his love for aliens and UFOs and convinces Gene to break into the school's computer lab to see the classified government files on Area 51.

Through it all, the episode's title reflects Linda's frequent exasperation with Bob's obsession, as she repeatedly tells him, "UFO, no you didn't!" Nevertheless, Bob can't let go of his newfound obsession, even as it starts interfering with his ability to work at the restaurant and causing some tension within the family.

As the episode winds down, Bob accidentally causes a small fire in the restaurant while trying to stay up late to catch a UFO sighting. The fire alerts the media, and the Belchers suddenly find themselves in the midst of a local news story. Despite Linda's frustrations, the family rallies around Bob, and they all end up seeing something strange in the sky.

In the end, the episode is a sweet and entertaining exploration of the Belchers' quirks and their unique family dynamic. While it may not be one of the show's most memorable episodes, "UFO No You Didn't" is an enjoyable and satisfying entry in Bob's Burgers' long-running series.
