In the thirteenth episode of the third season of Bones, titled "The Verdict in the Story," Brennan and Booth find themselves investigating the murder of a wealthy businessman named Howard Epps. Epps was convicted of killing a young boy years earlier and was on death row awaiting his execution when his body is found in his cell. As the investigation progresses, evidence begins to emerge that suggests Epps may have been innocent of the earlier crime.
Brennan and Booth must navigate the complicated legal system to try and uncover the truth about both crimes, while facing pressure from the DA's office and Epp's family. Meanwhile, tensions between Brennan and her father Max reach a boiling point as she struggles to come to terms with his past misdeeds.
