Car Matchmaker is a unique reality show that airs on the Esquire network and centers around host Spike Feresten, who has made a name for himself in the car industry. In each episode, Spike helps a person find their dream car by taking them on test drives of various vehicles that fit their specific needs. In season 2 episode 7, titled "Hauler Back," Spike meets with a father who needs a new truck to help him with his construction business.
The episode kicks off with Spike meeting up with the father, Dan, who owns a small construction business. Dan is in desperate need of a new truck that can haul all of his equipment, but he's having a tough time finding one that fits his budget and his needs. Dan currently drives an older truck and it's starting to break down, which is putting a strain on his business. Spike takes Dan for a spin and gets to know him a little better before they start test driving trucks.
The first truck Spike shows Dan is a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali. It's a large truck with a powerful engine that can definitely handle hauling all of Dan's equipment. As they take it for a test drive, Spike points out all of the features that make this truck stand out, such as the comfortable leather seats and the high-tech infotainment system. Dan seems impressed with the truck, but he's not sure if it's within his budget.
Next up is a 2016 Ram 2500 Laramie Longhorn. This truck is also a monster when it comes to hauling, but it's a little more affordable than the GMC Sierra. Spike takes Dan on a test drive and shows him all of the unique features of the Ram, such as the air suspension system that makes for a smooth ride even when hauling heavy loads. Dan can definitely picture himself driving this truck, but he's not ready to make a decision just yet.
The final truck Spike shows Dan is a 2016 Ford F-150 Platinum. This truck is a little smaller than the others, but it still has the capability to haul everything Dan needs. Spike takes Dan on a test drive and points out all of the features that make the Ford F-150 unique, such as the lightweight aluminum body and the fuel-efficient engine. Dan likes the truck, but he's still hung up on the GMC Sierra and the Ram.
After they finish test driving all of the trucks, Spike takes Dan to meet a custom builder who specializes in truck modifications. The builder shows Dan a truck that he's currently working on for another client - it's a Ford F-250 that's been completely customized to meet the client's needs. Dan is impressed with the modifications and starts to get excited about the idea of having his own custom truck.
Spike and Dan meet up a few days later to check out Dan's custom truck. The builder has added a custom bed, a lift kit, and a number of other features that Dan requested. Dan is thrilled with how the truck turned out and is excited to start using it for his business. Spike helps Dan with the paperwork and they wrap up the episode with a shot of Dan driving his new truck off the lot.
Overall, season 2 episode 7 of Car Matchmaker is a great example of how Spike helps people find the right car for their specific needs. Dan needed a truck that could haul all of his equipment, and Spike was able to show him several great options, as well as a custom solution that fit his needs perfectly.
