Chakuro is fascinated by Lykos, and as he learns more about her, he begins to realize that there may be things about the world he lives in that he doesn't understand.
As the episode progresses, we learn more about the history of the Mud Whale and the society in which the Marked live. We discover that the Marked are not allowed to leave the ship, and that those who attempt to do so are punished severely. We also learn that the Marked have a limited lifespan, and that they eventually succumb to a disease that is inherent in their genetic makeup.
Despite the bleakness of his situation, Chakuro remains curious and determined. He begins to explore the hidden corners of the Mud Whale, searching for answers and trying to uncover the secrets that lie beneath the surface of his society.

The world-building is intricate and well-thought-out, and the characters are compelling and well-developed.
