Come Dine With Me Canada is a reality television show that follows a group of amateur chefs as they compete for a cash prize and the title of the ultimate dinner party host. Each episode sees a different host welcoming their guests into their home and serving up a three-course meal, before being scored on their culinary skills, hosting abilities, and overall entertainment value. In season 4, episode 2, we meet Adam Whisler.
Adam is a 29-year-old carpenter from St. John's, Newfoundland, who prides himself on his traditional Newfoundland dishes. He kicks off the episode by showcasing his home which he renovated himself, to his competitors Alexa, John, and Penelope.
The competitors try the fish pies and soup with homemade bread at Adam’s house, accompanied by a local beer, and compliment him and his seafood dishes. But, there's some tension in the air as Penelope is insincere and Alexa rubs some of the competitors the wrong way when she talks of herself.
The group moves to Penelope's house next, where she surprises everyone with a Middle Eastern-inspired menu. The diners enjoyed the appetizer hummus; however, there were questions about the authenticity of the dish. Her other plates include a fattoush salad with pita chips, and broiled lamb chops with rice. Penelope's guests enjoyed her food and presentation, however, Adam thought the food was a too risky choice.
John is the third competitor and invites his guests into his beautifully decorated home next. He created an elegant and classic cuisine with a modern twist. He opts for playful bite-sized appetizers to start this dinner party off right, followed by beef tenderloin medallions and lobster risotto. John received compliments for his lobster risotto, a dish that separates himself from the other competitors. His guests also enjoyed participating in a game through the dinner that kept them all entertained.
Finally, for dessert, Penelope treated everyone to something sweet at her venue - a chocolate cake covered in chocolate ganache. Her guests were not impressed with the lack of creativity in her last course.
As the host, Adam finishes his dinner party bringing his guests to a local bar serving Newfoundland-only beer, Whisler's Brew, and serves fish and chips, the traditional Newfoundland dish, accompanied by dressing, gravy, and boiled cabbage to keep everybody full as they dance off. However, this dish does not score well with his competitors as Adam did not cook the fish himself.
The judges gather together and rate Adam, Penelope, John, and Alexa by giving out their final judgments. At the end of the show one chef hosts a dinner party that is deemed the best in terms of culinary skill, hosting abilities, and entertainment. The spoilers will not be mentioned, but let's wait and see who will be the winner of season 4 episode 2 of Come Dine With Me Canada.
