Kiera's world is turned upside down in the second episode of Continuum's second season titled "Second Opinion." As the episode begins, Alec (Erik Knudsen) struggles with the knowledge that he is responsible for unleashing Kellog's (Stephen Lobo) corporate future soldiers on the world. Kiera (Rachel Nichols) tries to comfort him by insisting that she will help him fix his mistake.

Meanwhile, Kiera sets out to track down a freelance spy who may have important information about Liber8, the anarchist group that Kiera has been battling since she arrived in the present. Her efforts lead her to a meeting with a highly respected psychologist named Dr. Melissa Dobeck (Laura Mennell). Kiera is hoping that Dr. Dobeck has information that will help her understand the motivations of Liber8 and how she can stop them. But their meeting takes an unexpected turn when Kiera is drugged and kidnapped by unknown assailants.

When Kiera wakes up, she finds herself in a mental institution, where Dr. Dobeck has been authorized to conduct a full psychological evaluation. Kiera is understandably confused and angry, but Dr. Dobeck insists that she is simply trying to help Kiera.

As Dr. Dobeck probes Kiera's mind, Kiera begins to question her own memories and beliefs. Is it possible that her time-traveling mission has been a delusion all along? Or is there something more sinister at work? Kiera struggles to make sense of what is happening to her, but she knows that she must maintain her sanity and focus if she hopes to escape the hospital and continue her fight against Liber8.

As Kiera searches for a way out of the hospital, she begins to suspect that Dr. Dobeck may not be all that she seems. Is the psychologist really a well-meaning professional trying to help Kiera, or is she a pawn in Liber8's plan to discredit Kiera and destroy her reputation? As the tension builds, Kiera must rely on her wits and her combat training to survive and protect her mission.

Overall, "Second Opinion" is a terrific episode that showcases Rachel Nichols' acting skills and gives her character a chance to explore new facets of her personality. The episode is suspenseful and intense, with plenty of surprising twists and turns along the way. Fans of science fiction and action-adventure series will find a lot to enjoy in Continuum's second season.
