Maggie: Service Dog & A.J. Pet Detective is the first episode of the first season of the television show Dogs with Jobs. This episode features two very different working dogs with distinct jobs to do.

The first dog, Maggie, is a service dog for fourteen-year-old Savanah who has cerebral palsy. Maggie helps Savanah with daily tasks like getting dressed and opening doors, and she's also trained to provide support for Savanah's emotional well-being. We see Maggie in action as she gets Savanah her jacket, helps her transfer from a chair to her bed, and even helps her take a bath. Maggie is perfectly calm and attentive throughout, taking direction from Savanah and always ready to lend a helpful paw.

We learn from Savanah's mother that they had to go through an extensive application and training process to get Maggie. Not just any dog can become a service animal. Maggie had to pass a series of behavioral and obedience tests, as well as be trained specifically for Savanah's needs. We also see how much Maggie means to Savanah, who tells us that Maggie has changed her life and given her more independence than she could have imagined.

The second dog featured in this episode is A.J., a pet detective who works with his handler Jamie Katz. A.J. is a Beagle, a breed known for their keen sense of smell, which makes them great at tracking scents. We see A.J. hard at work, sniffing out a lost cat named Gizmo who has been missing for several days. We see Jamie and A.J. interviewing Gizmo's owners, and Jamie uses a sample of Gizmo's fur to give A.J. a scent to track.

A.J. leads Jamie on a trail through the neighborhood, sniffing everything from trees to mailboxes to pick up Gizmo's scent. We see A.J. in action as he tracks Gizmo to a nearby park, where Jamie is able to call out and locate the cat. It's heartwarming to see Gizmo reunited with his owners, and the gratitude they show A.J. and Jamie is touching.

Throughout A.J.'s search for Gizmo, we learn more about the work of pet detectives. Jamie tells us that she's worked on over a thousand cases in the ten years she's been in business, and that her clients include not only pet owners but also rescue organizations and animal control agencies. We see how important A.J.'s skills are in these cases, as he's able to track down even the most elusive animals.

In addition to following Maggie and A.J. on their jobs, we also hear from their handlers and owners about the work that goes into training and caring for these dogs. We learn about the importance of positive reinforcement, patience, and consistency in training, and we see how much these dogs love their jobs and their human partners.

Overall, Maggie: Service Dog & A.J. Pet Detective is a heartwarming and informative episode about the incredible work that working dogs do for humans. We see the dedication, patience, and love that goes into training and caring for these animals, and we see firsthand the impact they have on the lives of their human partners. It's a great introduction to the show and a testament to the amazing things dogs can do.
