Ep 5. Priscilla

In Escaping Polygamy season 1 episode 5, viewers follow the story of Priscilla, a young woman who was forced into a polygamous marriage at the age of 16. She's now 21, pregnant with her third child, and desperately wanting to leave her polygamous community.

Priscilla has been living in a polygamous community for her entire life. Her father is a polygamist, and she has 17 other siblings. Growing up, Priscilla's life was full of chaos and violence. She was physically and emotionally abused by her mother and stepmother. When Priscilla was 16, her father arranged for her to marry someone in the community who was twice her age. She had no choice in the matter and was forced into the marriage.

After several years of abuse, Priscilla has finally had enough. She wants to leave and take her children with her, but she knows that this is easier said than done. She's seen what happens to people who try to leave the community, and it's not pretty. She also knows that her husband and the other members of the community won't make it easy for her to leave.

Enter the Escaping Polygamy team: sisters Jessica, Andrea, and Shanell, who are all former members of a polygamous community themselves. Priscilla contacts the sisters and asks for their help in leaving her community. The sisters are more than willing to help, but as they soon find out, this will be one of their toughest cases yet.

The sisters meet with Priscilla to discuss her plan. They quickly realize that Priscilla's husband is not going to make it easy for her to leave. He's already threatened to take their children away if she leaves, and Priscilla knows that he won't hesitate to make good on that threat. Priscilla is also worried about her family's safety. She knows that if she leaves, her father and siblings will be punished by the community leaders.

Despite these challenges, the sisters are determined to help Priscilla. They begin by finding a safe place for her and her children to stay while they work out the details of her escape. They also reach out to a lawyer who specializes in helping people leave polygamous communities.

As the sisters work on Priscilla's escape plan, they also try to help her deal with the emotional trauma that she's experienced. Priscilla has been through so much in her young life, and it's clear that she's struggling to process it all. The sisters offer her a safe space to talk about her experiences and help her work through her feelings.

Eventually, everything comes to a head. Priscilla's husband finds out about her plan to leave and confronts her. The situation quickly escalates, and Priscilla's safety is put in jeopardy. The sisters quickly step in to help, and they're able to get Priscilla and her children out of harm's way.

The episode ends with Priscilla safe and sound, but still dealing with the aftermath of her escape. She's grateful for the Escaping Polygamy team and everything they've done for her, but she knows that her journey is far from over. She has a long road ahead of her as she tries to build a new life for herself and her children outside of the polygamous community that she's known her entire life.
