Fat Doctor is a reality series that first aired in 2007. The series follows a doctor by the name of Shaw Somers who is a bariatric doctor. The doctor attempts to help persons who are morbidly obese. Each episode involves introducing a patient to Dr. Somers, and having him explain to them that they need to lose weight. The series then follows Dr. Somers as he helps them through their weight loss program. This is usually complicated by such things as the patient’s underlying medical conditions, and health problems associated with obesity. Most episodes conclude with the patient having had drastically improved their health.
