In Fear Thy Neighbor season 2 episode 11, viewers are taken on a journey to the quiet neighborhood of Parker, Colorado where homeowners Jim and Lisa Hatzis decided to move in with their young children. The couple quickly fell in love with their new home and the peaceful surroundings, but soon their neighbor, Cheryl Treadway, began causing them trouble. The episode titled "Homeowner Hell" explores the escalating feud between the neighbors and the tragic consequences that followed.

The feud began when Cheryl Treadway's son was injured by a fence on the Hatzis' property. The Hatzis were sympathetic and paid for the boy's medical bills, as well as repairing the fence. However, this didn't seem to satisfy Cheryl, who began making complaints about the Hatzis to the homeowners' association. She claimed that their landscaping was obstructing her view and that their children were too noisy. These complaints led to a visit from the association's president, who found no cause for complaint. Nevertheless, the Hatzis still tried to be friendly with Cheryl, offering her home-grown vegetables and even considering inviting her to their daughter's birthday party.

But Cheryl wasn't interested in making amends. Instead, she began harassing the Hatzis in increasingly disturbing ways. She would call the police on them over minor issues, such as parking on the street, or put up signs in her yard that seemed to target the Hatzis. She even installed a surveillance camera that faced directly into the Hatzis' yard, which Lisa found alarming.

Everything came to a head in the summer of 2011. Jim had just finished painting the exterior of their home and went to work out of town. Lisa was at home with their young children when Cheryl started blasting her music at such high volumes that Lisa couldn't hear herself think. She confronted Cheryl, who became enraged and began screaming at Lisa. Lisa went inside to call the police, but before they arrived, Cheryl had climbed over the fence onto the Hatzis' property. This was the last straw for Lisa, who decided to file a restraining order against Cheryl.

The situation seemed to calm down for a few days, but on July 2, 2011, Jim returned home to find Cheryl in their backyard. He called the police, who issued a restraining order to keep Cheryl away from the Hatzis for a year. However, just a few days later, tragedy struck. Jim was outside doing yard work when Cheryl came into his yard and attacked him. He managed to call 911, but by the time the police arrived, it was too late. Jim had been stabbed multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The episode concludes with a look at the aftermath of Jim's murder. Lisa and their children moved away from the home, which had become a painful reminder of the tragedy that had occurred there. Cheryl Treadway was eventually arrested and charged with first-degree murder, to which she pleaded guilty. In 2013, she was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

"Homeowner Hell" is a heartbreaking cautionary tale of how a seemingly harmless feud can spiral out of control with disastrous results. The episode expertly shows how small disagreements can quickly escalate if left unchecked, and how important it is to try and resolve issues before they turn violent. It's a heart-wrenching story that viewers won't soon forget.
