Many people are familiar with Chris Hansen, an investigative reporter who has been featured on Dateline, and his To Catch a Predator series. His reporting has been featured on NBC. Chris Hansen has taken his investigative reporting to a new level with his ID channel's Killer Instinct.

Hansen follows a number of cases that were in the headlines. One of Hansen's first cases was on Anthony Sowell the Cleveland Serial Killer who killed several. Hansen interviews a neighbor who had noticed a foul smell coming from the home.

Hansen also interviews serial killers on the show and asks them their reasons for committing some of the various crimes they are charged with committing.
