- August 11, 2013
As a red mist engulfs the city, all eyes are on the colossal figure looming in the midst of the chaos. Is it a monster? An alien invasion? No, it's the Red Hulk, and he's come to raise some serious hell.
In this episode of Fury Files season 2, we dive deep into the history and powers of this formidable Marvel character. Created by comic book legend Jeph Loeb and artist Ed McGuinness, Red Hulk first appeared in 2008's Hulk #1 and quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his sheer strength, cunning, and red-hot temper.
As the episode kicks off, we're introduced to General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, the man who would ultimately become the Red Hulk. Ross has long been a thorn in the side of Bruce Banner, aka the original green Hulk, and has embarked on a mission to capture and control Banner's alter ego at any cost.
But when Ross is diagnosed with cancer, he takes a desperate gamble and exposes himself to the same gamma radiation that transformed Banner. The result? A red-skinned, even more powerful version of the Hulk, with all of Ross' military training and tactical prowess intact.
From there, we delve into Red Hulk's incredible abilities, which include enhanced strength, durability, and regenerative abilities, as well as the power to absorb energy and emit devastating heat. We see him take on a variety of foes, from fellow avatars of the Hulk to the likes of Thor and Iron Man, and witness the destruction he leaves in his wake.
But it's not all brawn - we also get a glimpse into Red Hulk's strategic mind as he teams up with other Marvel powerhouses to tackle bigger threats. And as with any good superhero, there's a vulnerable side to Ross' alter ego as well - we learn about the personal struggles he faces as he tries to reconcile his humanity with the monstrous force inside him.
Of course, no discussion of Red Hulk would be complete without touching on some of the character's most iconic moments and storylines. We explore some of the major arcs that have shaped his long and storied history, from his early days as a rogue agent of the Thunderbolts to his turn as an Avenger and beyond.
As the episode winds down, we're left with a sense of awe and respect for this larger-than-life character. Red Hulk may not be the most well-known member of Marvel's lineup, but he's certainly one of the most powerful - and most fascinating. Whether you're a die-hard fan or a casual viewer, this episode is sure to leave you wanting more.
