Ep 13. Gary Has to Choose

Gary Unmarried is a TV sitcom that aired for two seasons between 2008 and 2010. The show follows Gary Brooks (Jay Mohr), a recently divorced father of two who is trying to navigate his way through life after splitting from his wife. The show focuses on Gary's attempts to balance his career as a house painter, his responsibilities as a dad, and his personal life as he starts dating again.

In season 2, episode 13, titled "Gary Has to Choose," Gary finds himself in a difficult position when he starts dating two women at the same time. In the previous episode, Gary hit it off with Sasha (guest star Loretta Devine), a woman he met in a bookstore. Although Gary is happy with both women, he soon realizes that he can't keep seeing them both and must make a choice between them.

Gary's friends, Dennis (Keegan-Michael Key) and Tommy (Ryan Malgarini), try to help him make a decision by giving him advice on how to choose between two women. Meanwhile, Gary's ex-wife, Allison (Paula Marshall), becomes concerned when she finds out that he has started dating two women and tries to intervene to help him make the right choice.

As Gary tries to figure out which woman he wants to be with, he finds himself facing a number of challenges. Sasha is fun-loving and spontaneous, while Allison is more serious and intellectual. Although Gary enjoys spending time with both women, he struggles to choose between them because they are so different. Furthermore, he is worried about hurting one of them if he chooses the other.

As the episode progresses, Gary spends time with both women and tries to get to know them better. He takes Allison on a romantic date to a fancy restaurant, and he goes to a bar with Sasha to watch a basketball game. However, he still can't make a decision.

In the end, Gary realizes that he is not ready to make a commitment to either woman and decides to take a break from dating altogether. Although he knows that it will be hard to give up the excitement of dating, he realizes that he needs to focus on himself and his children for the time being.

"Gary Has to Choose" is a classic sitcom trope, but the show manages to breathe new life into the familiar storyline with its witty writing and great cast. Jay Mohr is excellent as the lovable Gary, and the supporting cast is equally strong. The episode is filled with hilarious moments, but it also has its fair share of heartwarming scenes. Overall, it is a great episode of a fun, light-hearted sitcom.
