Next, the show takes a turn towards Salt Lake City in Utah, where Ellen and Ian delve into the life of Mormons who identify as LGBTQ. They attend a meeting with Affirmation, a non-profit organization that provides support to Mormons who belong to the LGBTQ+ community. There, they listen to participants sharing their stories and describing the difficulties they face given their family's values, the teachings of the church and the legislations in the state. They also meet a mother who shares how her daughter was excommunicated from the Mormon church for being gay. In addition, the duo visits the headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where they attempt to interview a member of the Church's public affairs team.
Finally, the episode concludes in Orlando, Florida, where Ellen and Ian mourn for the victims of the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history that took place in a gay nightclub in June 2016. They visit the site where Pulse nightclub stood, which has now been turned into a memorial open to the public. They talk to people who knew the victims or were present that night, survivors and families of those who were lost. They try to understand what happened and how the LGBTQ+ community felt in the time of the tragedy. They also attend a vigil and show their solidarity with those who suffered the attack.
