In Gino's Italian Escape season 2 episode 4, titled "A Taste of the Sun: Liguria," viewers are taken on a culinary journey through the picturesque region of Liguria, located on the northwestern coast of Italy. Host Gino D'Acampo explores the unique flavors and dishes that are unique to the region, and delves into the history and culture behind each one.

The episode begins with Gino visiting a local market in the city of Genoa, where he is greeted by a dazzling array of fresh produce and ingredients. From fragrant herbs to ripe tomatoes and juicy peaches, Gino samples everything the market has to offer and chats with the friendly vendors about their wares.

Next, Gino travels to a nearby village where he meets a family who has been producing their own olive oil for generations. He gets a glimpse into the traditional methods they use, from harvesting the olives by hand to pressing them into oil using a centuries-old stone mill. Gino is amazed by the rich, flavorful oil that is produced and learns how it is used in Ligurian cuisine.

In the quaint seaside town of Camogli, Gino explores the town's fishing industry and meets with local fishermen who are experts at catching the local delicacy: anchovies. Gino joins them on a fishing boat to experience the thrill of the catch and learns how the small, silvery fish are transformed into a staple ingredient in Ligurian kitchens. Along the way, he also tries his hand at making the traditional Ligurian dish of stuffed anchovies.

Back on land, Gino heads to a family-run pasta shop that has been producing fresh pasta using traditional methods for over a century. He watches as the skilled pasta makers roll out thin sheets of dough and expertly cut them into a variety of shapes, from delicate tagliatelle to hearty pappardelle. Gino also gets to sample some of the shop's delicious ravioli, stuffed with herbs and parmesan cheese.

As he continues his culinary tour of Liguria, Gino visits a local bakery where he learns how to make some of the region's most beloved sweet treats. He discovers the secret to making deliciously soft ciambelline al vino (wine biscuits) and crispy, honey-drenched bugie (fried pastries).

Finally, Gino heads up into the hills surrounding Genoa to visit a small family-run farm that specializes in producing goat cheese. He meets the friendly goats who provide the milk for the cheese, and is shown how the cheese is made and left to mature in caves for several months. Gino is in heaven as he samples the rich and creamy cheese, and even tries his hand at making his own fresh cheese.

Throughout the episode, Gino's infectious enthusiasm for Italian cuisine and his warm personality make for a delightful viewing experience. Viewers are sure to be charmed by the stunning landscapes of Liguria, rich history and culture of the region, and, of course, the delicious food that Gino discovers along the way.
