In Good Trouble season 3 episode 5, titled "Because, Men," the women of the Coterie unite to support and protect each other from the men in their lives who have caused them pain.
Alice finds herself caught in the middle of a power struggle between her boss, Lindsay, and her former mentor, Tom. Lindsay continues to manipulate and gaslight Alice to get what she wants, while Tom tries to lure Alice back to his team with promises of mentorship and creative freedom. However, Alice is determined to stand her ground and make her own decisions, even if it means sacrificing her dream job.
Meanwhile, Malika's ex-boyfriend, Isaac, reappears in her life and tries to make amends for his past mistakes. However, Malika is hesitant to forgive him, especially since she has just started a new relationship with Dyonte. As she struggles to navigate her feelings for both men, Malika turns to her friends for support and guidance.
Callie also has to deal with a difficult situation involving men when she represents a transgender college student who has been wrongfully accused of sexual assault. While Callie fights to clear her client's name and get justice, she also has to confront her own biases and assumptions about gender dynamics and power dynamics in sexual relationships.
Finally, Gael finds himself at odds with Jamie, his new boyfriend, when Jamie reveals that he has been secretly struggling with addiction. As Gael tries to support Jamie and help him get healthy, he also has to learn how to set boundaries and take care of himself in the process.
Throughout the episode, the women of the Coterie come together to share their experiences and support each other through their struggles. They learn to lean on each other and find strength in their collective power, proving that they don't need men to define or validate them.
