Gypsy is a drama television show streaming on Netflix that premiered in 2017 for just one season. The series revolves around Jean Holloway, a Manhattan-based therapist played by Academy Award-nominated actress Naomi Watts. Jean is married to Michael, played by Billy Crudup, and together they have a young daughter named Dolly. Although Jean is a successful therapist, she is discontented with her life as she struggles with her own personal demons and frustrations.

Unlike most therapists, Jean is unconventional, which sometimes leads her to blur the lines between her professional and personal life. She becomes enmeshed in the lives of her patients, secretly infiltrating their personal lives, forming inappropriate, and sometimes dangerous connections with them in the process. Among her patients is Sam, a detective played by Karl Glusman, who she confides in, and Sidney Pierce, a barista played by Sophie Cookson, who she becomes obsessed with.

Sidney is unlike any of Jean's other patients. She is a young and beautiful woman, and Jean soon becomes fixated with her. Jean finds herself drawn into Sidney's life, forging a deep and taboo relationship that gives her a glimpse into the young woman's world outside therapy. Along the way, Jean finds herself struggling with her desires and impulses, as she navigates her way through the complex web of deceit and lies that she has spun.

As the series progresses, Jean's fascination with Sidney only intensifies, and she begins to weave herself into her patient's messy web of relationships. Jean becomes closer to Sidney's girlfriend, Diane played by Brenda Vaccaro and begins to inject herself into their lives leading to a chain of events that quickly spiral out of control.

Alongside Jean's personal life, the show also explores the struggles that Michael, Jean's husband, has with his job amid a company merger. His job insecurity puts an added strain on their already fragile marriage, and both he and Jean find themselves pushed to the brink.

Gypsy is a gripping and compulsive drama filled with intrigue and intensity. With a strong cast and powerful performances, it is a poignant exploration of the human psyche and the complex ties that bind us to one another. The show's central themes of identity, desire, and self-discovery are masterfully handled, making it compelling viewing from beginning to end.

Despite its critical acclaim and praise from audiences, the series was canceled after just one season, leaving fans without any closure on the intriguing storylines that it set up. Nonetheless, the show is still recommended for those who enjoy deep and complex dramas, showcasing the beauty and complexities of the human psyche.

Gypsy is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (10 episodes). The series first aired on June 30, 2017.
