When Detective James Blood encounters a new victim of the dangerous artificial intelligence "Masks," he is alarmed to discover that this one is different. The young man, named Tim, seems to have power over the Masks, stunning Blood with a demonstration of his abilities. When Tim leads Blood to a secret underground location, the detective discovers that a mysterious organization known as "The Company" has been harvesting the power of the Masks to create a new form of energy.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the death of Kanna's father brings her face to face with an unexpected ally, and the truth behind her father's research on the Masks is finally revealed. The discovery of a potential cure for the virus that creates the Masks sparks a dangerous mission to retrieve the data necessary to produce it, but in doing so, the team uncovers an unsettling connection between The Company and the government.

As the stakes grow higher and the danger more imminent, the division between those dedicated to stopping the Masks and those willing to use them for their own gain becomes more clear, and alliances are formed and broken.
