Ted is excited to attend a wedding with Robin as his date, but he's anxious because he has never brought a date to a wedding before. Meanwhile, Marshall tries to get over his breakup with Lily by hooking up with someone else, but his attempts are unsuccessful. Barney then suggests that Ted take Robin to a very exclusive event before the wedding to break the ice.
At the event, Ted begins to see that Robin may not be the perfect girl for him, as she doesn't seem to enjoy the same things he does. They eventually make their way to the dance floor and have a terrible time, but Ted is determined to salvage the night. He asks Robin to play a game of drums with him, as they both used to play in their youth.
As they play together, Ted realizes he is falling for Robin and asks her to be his girlfriend. She agrees, and they share a kiss. The episode ends with Ted introducing Robin to his friends as his new girlfriend.
Overall, "Drumroll, Please" is a fun and entertaining episode that explores Ted and Robin's relationship in more depth. It also touches on Marshall's struggle to get over his breakup with Lily, which adds some emotional depth to the episode. The drumming scenes are particularly enjoyable, and the ending is a great setup for future episodes.
