Ep 2. Double Date

Ted and Barney were on a double date with two women, named Naomi and Mary, respectively. However, they quickly realized that the date wasn't going as well as they thought it would. While on the date, they engaged in a game of "truth or dare" and things got out of hand when Barney dared Ted to retrieve a bottle of hot sauce from a neighboring table's food and eat a spoonful of it. Ted did it and ended up getting kicked out of the restaurant, which led to even more chaos.

Meanwhile, Marshall and Lily were trying to have a romantic night in, but were constantly interrupted by their apartment neighbors, Stuart and Claudia. They were a couple that always had very loud and graphic sex, which made it impossible for Marshall and Lily to have any alone time. The two of them decided to confront Stuart and Claudia about their noisy behavior, but were surprised to find out that the couple was actually having difficulties in their relationship.

Back at the restaurant, Ted and Barney were forced to share a cab with the two women they were on a date with. Naomi and Mary were fighting over who was going to go home with Barney, which caused Ted to become frustrated with the situation. The cab driver suggested that they settle the dispute by racing to Barney's apartment, which Ted reluctantly agreed to. However, during the race, the cab ended up crashing and the group was stranded on the side of the road.

While waiting for a tow truck, Naomi and Mary continued to bicker over Barney, which prompted Ted to finally speak his mind. He told them both that they were being immature and that Barney was not worth fighting over. This made the two women realize that neither of them really wanted to be with Barney and they both ended up leaving.

Meanwhile, Marshall and Lily were attempting to mediate Stuart and Claudia's relationship problems, which led to some very uncomfortable moments. The couple ended up making up and leaving, while Marshall and Lily contemplated their own relationship.

In the end, Ted and Barney realized that they had both dodged a bullet by not ending up with Naomi or Mary and they promised to be more selective with their dating choices in the future. Marshall and Lily also reaffirmed their love for each other, despite the difficulties they faced during the night.
