Ep 17. Garbage Island

In season 6 episode 17 of How I Met Your Mother, titled "Garbage Island," the gang faces a daunting task as they try to clean the cluttered apartment of a deceased elderly woman in order to claim her vacant apartment in their building.

To get their hands on the coveted apartment, Ted, Barney, Marshall, Lily, and Robin agree to clean up the deceased woman's cluttered apartment, which they think is an easy enough job. But once they get there, they soon realize that they are in for a nightmare. The apartment is piled high with garbage bags, old newspapers, and other debris, making it nearly impossible to navigate.

As they begin to make their way through the massive piles of trash, the group quickly starts to lose motivation. Tempers flare as they realize that the job is much more challenging than they had anticipated. At one point, Barney even declares that they are all on "Garbage Island" and that they will never make it out alive.

Despite their initial struggles, the gang works together to slowly make progress in the apartment. Each person takes on a specific task, whether it's dusting, sorting through old clothing, or throwing away garbage bags. As they continue to work, they begin to uncover secrets from the woman's past, including old love letters and photographs that suggest she may have had a more exciting life than they had given her credit for.

As the day wears on, the group becomes increasingly exhausted. They take breaks to reminisce about old times and share personal stories, which helps to strengthen their bond. They also find ways to make the tedious work more enjoyable, such as blasting music and dancing around the apartment.

Despite their progress, the group begins to argue once again when they discover a mysterious locked closet in the back of the apartment. Ted and Marshall insist that they need to know what's inside, but Lily and Robin are more hesitant. Eventually, they decide to open the closet, and what they find inside shocks them all.

The final moments of "Garbage Island" reveal the contents of the closet and set up a new storyline for the rest of the season. Fans of How I Met Your Mother will be on the edge of their seats as they wait to see how the gang deals with their latest obstacle.
