How It Should Have Ended is a web series that imagines alternate endings for popular movies and TV shows. In season 1 episode 8, titled "Back in the Day," the series takes on the beloved animated film The Lion King.
The episode opens with Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa relaxing in the jungle as they reminisce about the past. Simba laments that he wishes he could go back in time and change things so that his father, Mufasa, wouldn't have died. Timon and Pumbaa are skeptical, but Simba is determined to find a way.
Simba uses a mystical artifact to transport himself back in time to the day of Mufasa's death. He arrives just in time to see Scar throw Mufasa off the cliff and into the stampede of wildebeests. Simba tries to intervene, but Scar knocks him out and leaves him for dead.
When Simba wakes up, he finds himself in the company of Rafiki, who explains that he was also sent back in time by the artifact. Rafiki tells Simba that he can't change the past, but he can use his knowledge of what's to come to make things better.
Together, Simba and Rafiki hatch a plan to prevent Mufasa's death. They start by warning Mufasa about Scar's treachery and the stampede. Mufasa is skeptical at first, but he ultimately believes them and takes the necessary precautions to protect himself and Simba.
With Mufasa safe, Simba and Rafiki set their sights on Scar. They confront him and reveal that they know about his plans to kill Mufasa. Scar is caught off guard and tries to deny it, but Simba and Rafiki aren't having it. In the end, Scar is banished from the Pride Lands, and Simba grows up to be a just and fair king.
The episode ends with Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa back in the present day, reflecting on their adventure. Simba realizes that he doesn't need to change the past to make things better; he just needs to learn from it and do his best to create a brighter future.
Overall, "Back in the Day" is a fun and entertaining take on The Lion King that will leave fans of the movie satisfied.
