Ideal is a dark comedy television series that aired on British television channel BBC Three from 2005 until 2008, and later on IFC from 2008 until 2011. The show was created by Graham Duff, who served as writer and also played a recurring role on the series. The lead character of the show, Moz, was played by popular British comedian Johnny Vegas.

The show follows the antics of Moz, a small-time marijuana dealer who lives in a hideaway in England. He is a reserved, awkward man who spends his days smoking weed and hanging out with his friends: cartoon-obsessed PC, stoner neighbour Brian, and the eccentric, transvestite member of his social circle, Jenny.

Throughout the six seasons of the show, Moz's life becomes increasingly complicated as he becomes embroiled in various dangerous situations involving his drug dealing business. Moz must contend with persistent police raids, rival dealers, and a variety of other shady characters who threaten his livelihood and safety.

Despite the show's dark subject matter, Ideal is a comedy through and through. Much of the humor comes from the interactions between Moz and his friends, as well as the absurd situations that they find themselves in. Johnny Vegas's performance as Moz is the driving force behind the show's success, as he captures the character's nervous energy and underlying vulnerability perfectly.

One of the unique features of Ideal is the use of animated segments interspersed throughout the episodes. Created by artist Lee Hardcastle, these short cartoons are a nod to Moz's love of cartoons and add an element of surrealism to the show.

In addition to its unique style and dark humor, the show also explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and morality. Moz is a flawed character, but he cares deeply for his friends and often risks his own safety to help them. Despite the fact that he is a drug dealer, he is not without a moral compass and is often confronted with the ethical implications of his lifestyle.

The supporting cast of characters on Ideal is also noteworthy. Each of Moz's friends is a unique and memorable character, and the various other drug dealers and unsavory individuals that he encounters throughout the show are equally well-drawn.

While the show was not a ratings juggernaut, it garnered a dedicated fanbase due to its offbeat humor and memorable characters. It has since developed a cult following and is considered a cult classic in British television.

Overall, Ideal is an offbeat and entertaining comedy series that offers a unique perspective into the world of drug dealing. The show is anchored by Johnny Vegas's standout performance as the lovable, but flawed Moz, and is elevated by its use of animation and strong supporting cast. Despite the show's dark subject matter, it never loses sight of the importance of friendship and morality, making it a truly unique viewing experience.
