Impress Me is a show that follows the lives of celebrity impressionists Ross Marquand and Jim Meskimen as they navigate the entertainment industry and try to make their mark. In season 1, episode 7 titled "Unplugged," Ross and Jim participate in a comedy festival that's billed as a night of "no impressions allowed."

The episode begins with Ross and Jim backstage at the festival, nervous and unsure of how they'll perform without their usual repertoire of celebrity impressions. They run into their friend and fellow comedian Ron Funches, who gives them some advice to help them come up with material for the show. Ron suggests that they try to find the humor in their own lives and experiences, rather than relying on impersonations and references to pop culture.

Ross and Jim take Ron's advice to heart, and we see them brainstorming and rehearsing original material for the first time in the series. They experiment with different styles of comedy, including physical humor and witty one-liners. They also delve into more personal topics, such as their relationships, fears, and insecurities.

As the night of the festival approaches, Ross and Jim are still feeling nervous but excited about the opportunity to showcase their original material. They arrive at the venue and meet some of the other comedians on the bill, including an up-and-coming female comic named Tina (played by guest star Arielle Vandenberg). Tina is bubbly and confident, and she inspires Ross and Jim to be themselves on stage.

When it's their turn to perform, Ross and Jim take the stage together and launch into their set. They start off with some self-deprecating jokes about their careers as impressionists, which gets a big laugh from the audience. They then transition into some of their new material, which includes jokes about dating, social media, and aging.

The audience is receptive to Ross and Jim's new material, and they even get a standing ovation at the end of their set. They're thrilled with how the show went and grateful for the opportunity to try something new. As they leave the venue, they reflect on the experience and realize that they've grown as comedians and performers.

Overall, "Unplugged" is a refreshing departure from the usual format of Impress Me. It's fun to see Ross and Jim step outside their comfort zone and try something different, and their original material is genuinely funny and relatable. The guest appearance by Arielle Vandenberg is also a highlight, as she brings a new energy and perspective to the show. Fans of Impress Me will enjoy this episode for its humor, heart, and willingness to take risks.
