In the first episode of Incorporated, we are introduced to a dystopian world in the year 2074, where corporations have gained unlimited power and influence over the society. The episode begins with Ben Larson, a talented young executive at Spiga Biotech, one of the leading corporations, meeting with his boss, Elizabeth Krauss, to discuss his future within the company.
Ben is eager to move up the ranks and gain more power, but Elizabeth warns him that the competition is fierce and he needs to prove himself worthy of promotion. She also hints at a secret project that could further his career, but refuses to divulge any details.
Undeterred, Ben attends a fancy party hosted by the CEO of Spiga, Julian, hoping to make a good impression and meet influential people. There, he encounters a former love interest, Elena, who is now married to Aaron, a powerful client of Spiga. Ben learns that Elena has a daughter with Aaron and is struggling to make ends meet, as the cost of living in the city keeps rising.
Meanwhile, a couple of undercover operatives, Laura and Theo, are working to expose the secrets of Spiga and bring down the corporation. They plant a device in the office of one of Spiga's top executives, Roger Caplan, and remotely collect data about the corporation's sinister practices, such as genetically modifying crops to control food supplies and manufacturing drugs to addict their customers.
As the episode progresses, we see the contrasting lives of the rich and powerful, who live in luxurious high-rise buildings with state-of-the-art security systems and advanced technology, and the struggling masses, who are forced to live in crowded and polluted slums without basic amenities.
Ben decides to take matters into his own hands and steal a valuable chip from Spiga's office, which he believes will give him leverage over the company and help him gain the promotion he desires. He enlists the help of his former mentor, Roger, who is bitter about being sidelined by Elizabeth, and plans to use the chip to blackmail her into giving him a higher position.
However, things do not go as planned, and Ben's actions have grave consequences for himself and his loved ones.
Overall, the first episode of Incorporated sets the tone for a thrilling and thought-provoking series, which explores themes of power, greed, and morality in a chillingly realistic future. The intricate plot and well-developed characters keep the audience engaged, and the top-notch production values create a captivating atmosphere.
