In the second episode of season one of Kaboul Kitchen (English subtitled), titled "The Pool", we find Jacky, the main protagonist, still struggling to keep his restaurant, Kaboul Kitchen, running in the midst of a war-torn Kabul. His troubles are compounded when his estranged daughter, Sophie, shows up at his doorstep unexpectedly.

Later, Jacky is invited to a pool party organized by an eccentric Frenchman named Richard Giscard whom he has been trying to get as a client. Jacky soon finds out that the party is for swingers and is immediately uncomfortable with the idea. Sophie, on the other hand, meets a new friend at the pool party who introduces her to the thrill of being in a war zone.

Meanwhile, the Afghan staff working in Kaboul Kitchen demand a day off to celebrate Ramadan, which Jacky is unwilling to grant as it would compromise his business. However, he soon realizes the importance of their religious holiday and comes up with a vegan version of his restaurant's dishes as a gesture of respect.

Back at the pool party, Jacky is coerced into joining a game of water polo, which goes awry when he accidentally kicks Richard in the face. This leads to a brawl, which Jacky barely escapes from. Meanwhile, Sophie gets caught up in the chaos of a helicopter landing and narrowly avoids getting killed.

"The Pool" is an entertaining episode that showcases the stark contrast between the extravagant lifestyles of the expats in Kabul and the harsh realities of life in a war-torn country. The episode also touches upon the cultural differences and clashes that arise when people from different backgrounds and beliefs come together in a foreign land. With its dry humor, interesting characters, and engaging storylines, Kaboul Kitchen (English subtitled) is a must-watch for fans of international dramas.
