In the third season of King of the Hill, the animated sitcom follows the Hill family as they live their ordinary lives in the fictional Arlen, Texas. Hank Hill, a propane salesman, is the patriarch of the Hill family. He is a proud Texan who values hard work and traditions. Peggy Hill, Hank's wife, is a substitute teacher who takes pride in her Texan heritage. Their son Bobby is a typical American teenager who loves junk food and video games. The show is known for its satirical take on conservative American values and its portrayal of ordinary life in Texas.

In the twenty-first episode of the third season, titled Revenge of the Lutefisk, the Hill family is invited to a Scandinavian festival in their town. Peggy, who is of Norwegian descent, sees this as an opportunity to showcase her culture and culinary skills. She decides to make lutefisk, a traditional Norwegian dish made from whitefish cured in lye. However, Hank is hesitant to try it, as he finds the smell repulsive.

At the festival, the Hills are greeted by the Norwegian ambassador, who invites Peggy to a special luncheon. Peggy sees this as a way to impress the ambassador with her lutefisk dish. However, when they arrive at the luncheon, they find out that Peggy's lutefisk has been switched with a foul-smelling, fake lutefisk made from cat food. Peggy is embarrassed and angry, and suspects that her rival, Kiki, has something to do with it. Kiki is a wealthy Scandinavian woman who is known for her delicious lutefisk dish and her rivalry with Peggy.

Peggy decides to take revenge on Kiki by baking a fake cake made from lard, glitter, and confetti and bringing it to Kiki's party. However, Hank warns Peggy that revenge is not the answer, and that she should let it go. Peggy ignores Hank's advice and goes through with her plan.

At Kiki's party, Peggy is nervous and worried that her fake cake will be discovered. However, Kiki and her guests are so impressed by the cake's appearance that they ask Peggy to cut it. When Peggy does, the cake explodes, covering Kiki and her guests in lard and confetti. Peggy is delighted by her revenge and feels that justice has been served.

However, the next day, Peggy wakes up to find her yard covered in lutefisk that has been smeared with cat food. She realizes that Kiki has gotten her revenge. Peggy is humiliated and devastated, and she turns to Hank for comfort. Hank tells Peggy that he is proud of her for trying to stand up for herself, but that revenge is never the answer. He helps Peggy clean up the lutefisk and assures her that they will get through this together.

Overall, Revenge of the Lutefisk is a humorous and satirical take on the concept of revenge and the importance of letting go of grudges. It also showcases the clash of cultures and the different ways in which people express their heritage. Peggy's pride in her Norwegian culture and her competition with Kiki is a reflection of the human need for recognition and validation. The episode's ending, with Hank comforting Peggy and supporting her, is a reminder of the importance of family and community in times of adversity.
