Kuromukuro Season 1 Episode 6 Dancing on the Banks of the River Jinzu

The episode "Dancing on the Banks of the River Jinzu" from season 1 of the anime show Kuromukuro starts off with a scene from the past where Yukihime, the Princess of the Efy Dolgh, discovers that a samurai who she had slain had a sister who was mourning for him. Disturbed by this realization, Yukihime decides to teach the sister how to dance in honor of the brother's memory. Fast forward to present day, and we see Yukina and Ken trying to find a way to repair Kuromukuro's arm. They visit Professor Lovins in his lab, but he is unwilling to help them. Back at the UN base, Tom and the rest of the team are busy investigating the previous and current existence of the Efy Dolgh organization.

At the same time, Muetta, a former member of Efy Dolgh, is still struggling to come to terms with her past. With her loyalties torn between the present and the past, Muetta visits her old master's grave and reminisces about the old days. Meanwhile, Kennosuke and Yukina are enjoying a light moment by the riverbank, where Ken tries to teach her some dance moves. Little do they know that their peaceful moment is about to be disrupted.

Suddenly, they are attacked by a giant robot. The robot is operated by a hijacker who uses it to launch an attack on the UN base. As the team struggles to defend themselves, they realize that the hijacker is none other than Professor Lovins, who had refused to help them earlier! The team decides to circle around the base and launch a counter-attack from behind.

Ken and Yukina encounter Muetta, who joins them in their fight against the robot. While Muetta puts up a good fight, Ken and Yukina quickly realize that her movements are similar to those of a Mecha, meaning that she must have had some experience in piloting them. As the battle progresses, Muetta's loyalty towards the Efy Dolgh is questioned once more, and she is once again confronted with the realization that things are not always what they seem to be.

With Muetta's help, the team is able to successfully take down the robot, but Lovins escapes. The team decides to regroup and formulate a new plan of action to tackle this new threat. While on the surface it was just another battle in a series of battles, there were several emotional undertones to the episode. The realization of Muetta's complicated loyalties towards her past and present was also a major plot point in the episode. Her character development, along with the subtle nods to Ken's past, make "Dancing on the Banks of the River Jinzu" a well-rounded episode that balances action with emotion.
