Blood-C is an anime series from FUNimation that first aired in 2011. The show focuses on the life of Saya Kisaragi, a seemingly normal high school girl in her small town. However, her world is far from ordinary, as she is the last surviving member of a clan of elite sword fighters tasked with slaying monsters known as "Elder Bairns."

Saya's daily routine revolves around attending school, working part-time at a cafe, and patrolling the town at night for any sign of the dangerous creatures she has sworn to defeat. Despite her obligation to protect the town, Saya is also shown to be a carefree and happy-go-lucky person who adores her family and friends.

As the series progresses, Saya is faced with increasingly difficult challenges and obstacles that threaten the safety of both her town and the ones she holds dear. She is aided by others who share her mission, including her father Fumito Kagura, also known as the leader of the group responsible for training Saya and her clan. Alongside Fumito are Saya's supportive friends and Councillor Shun Matsuo.

The show has a considerable amount of action throughout as we see Saya using her exceptional sword fighting skills to defeat Elder Bairns. The show’s art style is extremely unique, blending classic anime art style with modern CGI techniques, giving the show's visuals a very polished look. It's fascinating to witness the battle sequences as firm movements and excellent manga-style animation bring the monsters to life.

Blood-C includes themes of violence/gore, drama, romance, and mystery, all blended together to keep viewers engaged and hooked onto each episode. The story strays from the typical action/fantasy anime and incorporates darker elements of horror that are sure to leave viewers with a lasting impression.

Furthermore, Blood-C's voice acting is hugely impressive, with Nana Mizuki stunning in her role as Saya. The other characters are voiced by equally talented actors like Kenji Nojima, Keiji Fujiwara, Masumi Asano, Misato Fukuen, Atsushi Abe, Tatsuhisa Suzuki, Miho Miyagawa, and Jun Fukuyama. The voice acting is an essential factor in making the story even more exciting, and these impressive talents do not disappoint.

Finally, the show's soundtrack is a hidden gem in itself, with a mix of soothing yet tense music that builds up during action-packed moments. The background music and sound effects add a more cinematic feel to the show.

To sum up, Blood-C depicts an engrossing narrative of adventure, drama, and monstrous battles, all rolled into a fantastic package. Viewers will undoubtedly find themselves hooked and fully immersed in the unique and mysterious world of Saya Kisaragi. The show is a definite must-watch for those who are fans of the action/fantasy/horror genre.
