Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan (Nurarihyon no Mago, literally Nurarihyon's Grandchild) is a 26 episode anime produced by Studio Deen which ran from July 6, 2010 until December 21, 2010. Commonly abbreviated Nuramago, it was directed by Junji Nishimura, written by Natsuko Takahashi and was composed by Kohei Tanaka. It was licensed by Viz Media. During the Japanese airing it premiered on the Yomiuri TV, the Tokyo MX, the Chukyo TV and on the BS11 television networks. Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan was adapted from the manga of the same name written by Hiroshi Shibashi, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from March 2008 until June 2012. It ran for 22 volumes. The anime stars Rikuo Nura, a seemingly normal high school student who is actually one quarter demon and lives in a mansion that is filled with spirits. His grandfather is the current head of the Nura Youkai Clan. Despite his grandfather's best wishes, he tries to escape his yokai fate by doing good deeds all around. Rikuo eventually takes up the position of young head of the Nura House. Other factions come up to take control, and it is up to Rikuo to gather friends and allies. The anime features two opening themes, Fast Forward and Sunshine, both performed by Monkey Majik and the ending themes, Sparky Start and Symphonic Dream, are performed by Katate Size.
