The show La Brea is a thrilling drama about a family who finds themselves mysteriously transported to a prehistoric world after a massive sinkhole swallows up half of Los Angeles. The first episode, named Pilot, introduces us to the main characters and sets up the premise for the rest of the season.
As the episode begins, we see a young woman named Eve (Natalie Zea) driving through the streets of Los Angeles with her teenage daughter, Izzy (Zyra Gorecki), and her ex-husband, Gavin (Jon Seda). They're on their way to take Izzy to school, but Eve is distracted and visibly agitated by something. Suddenly, a huge sinkhole opens up in the middle of the road, swallowing up their car and separating the family.
When Eve wakes up, she finds herself in a strange and unfamiliar world. She's surrounded by dense forests and strange creatures she's never seen before. She quickly realizes that she's not in Kansas anymore and sets out to find her family. Along the way, she meets a group of other survivors who are also trapped in this prehistoric world.
Meanwhile, back in present-day Los Angeles, Gavin and Izzy are trapped in a collapsed parking garage with no way out. As they wait for rescue, Izzy begins to have strange visions of her mother and the prehistoric world she's stuck in. Gavin tries to keep her calm and reassured, but he's just as frightened and uncertain as she is.
As the episode progresses, we learn more about Eve and her family. We see flashbacks to happier times when they were all together, and we see the strain and tension that drove them apart. We also learn that Eve has a mysterious connection to this prehistoric world and that she may have been meant to come here all along.
The first episode of La Brea is suspenseful and gripping, with plenty of action and adventure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The show has an intriguing premise, and the characters are well fleshed-out with realistic motivations and emotions.
