Last Comic Standing

Last Comic Standing is a reality talent show that seeks to find the next big name in comedy. Stand up comics of all ages and ethnicities try to make a panel of judges laugh and convince them that they can perform as professionals. There is no limit on the type of material presented. Sketches range from slapstick to sardonic, from ethnic humor to knock knock jokes; whatever will get a laugh is fair game. The prize is $250,000 and a chance at a live appearance on the sponsoring network, NBC.

This season, the host is comic J B Smoove and the judges are Roseanne Barr, Russell Peters and Keenan Ivory Wayans. The comics perform a minute and a half sketch in an attempt to impress both the audience and the judges. The judges offer constructive comments and later choose which comics will stay and which will be sent home.

As the field of contestants is winnowed down, the viewing audience is allowed to vote for their favorites. This score is combined with the judges? scores to determine the finalists. The final competition involves the last three contestants going head to head to win votes from the home audience and the judges. The winner is whoever is ?the last comic standing.?
