Nathan Lane and Jake Johannsen were the special guests on season 15, episode 52 of the Late Show with David Letterman. The show kicked off with David Letterman unleashing his trademark humor and banter with his live audience. The Late Show band played the theme song as the show opened. David Letterman started introducing his guests, starting with the stand-up comedian and writer Jake Johannsen.

Jake Johannsen came out to a warm round of applause and began talking about his recent trip to a comedy festival in New Zealand. He recounted his experiences of not being able to get a bottle of water on the plane, and how it led him to drink other passengers’ drinks, which he humorously surmised could have led to an interesting turn of events. He then spoke about some of his other recent experiences, including how he was getting older, watching wildlife documentaries with his wife, and not being very good at modern technology.

David Letterman then introduced Nathan Lane, one of the most talented actors of his generation. Lane came out to thunderous applause from the audience and David Letterman started to ask him about his recent work on Broadway in a musical called ‘The Addams Family’. Nathan Lane spoke passionately about the show and his character in it, invoking laughter from the audience.

David then changed gears and asked Nathan Lane about his new TV show, a sitcom called ‘Modern Family', which had yet to air at that point. Lane spoke about his role and his excitement for the upcoming series with his idiosyncratic wit, getting the audience excited in turn. The segment with Nathan Lane was full of hilarious moments and clever wordplay.

After Nathan Lane's segment, David Letterman went to a commercial break. Upon his return, he engaged in a brief Q&A with Jake Johannsen. They discussed the benefits of caffeine and the health risks associated with energy drinks followed by some more humorous anecdotes from Jake's life.

David Letterman then introduced the musical guest for the evening, the acclaimed jazz pianist McCoy Tyner. Tyner played a beautiful piano solo, demonstrating his incredible talent and improvisational skill. David Letterman looked overjoyed by the performances and danced to the music.

The show closed with a few jokes and some thank-yous from David Letterman before signing off. Overall, this episode was full of laughter, jokes, and magnificent entertainment, making it a great watch for anyone who loves comedy, jazz, or just plain good entertainment.
