Life Below Zero follows a group of rugged individuals who have chosen to live a subsistence lifestyle in some of the harshest and most remote parts of Alaska. In season 17 episode 10, titled "Bad Break," tensions are high as the winter season wears on and the inhabitants of the frozen tundra must continue to fend for themselves in the face of harsh weather conditions and dangerous wildlife.

The episode begins with Sue Aikens, the owner of the Kavik River Camp, facing an unexpected setback when one of her snow machines breaks down. Sue relies on snow machines to travel across the vast Alaskan wilderness and to haul supplies back to her camp. With a limited supply of spare parts on hand and no way of getting a replacement machine, Sue must find a way to make do with what she has. She heads out into the wilderness to search for parts and navigate treacherous terrain, all while collecting firewood and fending off wolves.

Meanwhile, Bob Harte is making preparations to move to a new cabin. Bob is a seasoned Alaskan who has spent nearly five decades living off the land. He has built a new cabin in a more secluded area, away from the noise and distractions of nearby towns. As he packs up his belongings and makes the journey to his new home, Bob reflects on the challenges and rewards of living a subsistence lifestyle. He also shares his thoughts on the importance of preserving Alaska's wilderness and passing on his knowledge and skills to future generations.

Next, we catch up with Glenn Villeneuve, who is struggling to find food in the midst of a deep freeze. Glenn is a wilderness expert who has spent over 20 years living off the land in Alaska. He relies on hunting and fishing to survive, but with temperatures dropping to -50 degrees Fahrenheit, the rivers and lakes are frozen over and the animals are scarce. Glenn must use all of his skills and knowledge to find a way to feed himself and his dogs, who are also struggling in the cold.

Finally, we check in with Jessie Holmes, a bush pilot who spends much of his time flying across the Alaskan wilderness. Jessie is facing his own set of challenges as he tries to track down a missing plane. One of his fellow pilots has gone missing, and Jessie has volunteered to help with the search effort. With limited resources and uncertain weather conditions, Jessie must put his flying skills to the test in order to locate his friend and bring him back to safety.

As the episode comes to a close, we see these rugged individuals pushing themselves to the limit, determined to continue living on their own terms in one of the most unforgiving environments on Earth. Through all the hardships and setbacks, they remain resilient, resourceful, and deeply connected to the land that sustains them. Life Below Zero is a captivating and inspiring look at a way of life that is rapidly disappearing from the modern world.
