Andy Bassich, living with his partner Kate in Yukon, has a much more difficult time preparing for the winter due to an unforeseen circumstance. His dog, Earl, gets into a fight with another dog, causing them to both require emergency veterinary care. The veterinary care is required to ensure that both dogs are healthy enough to make it through the winter, as the dogs are an important part of the couple's survival.

Throughout the episode, the cast highlights the importance of community and the support they offer each other in times of need. Many of the cast members depend on the help of others during the winter season, such as the delivery of supplies, assistance with transportation, or even just emotional support.
